Development of Bicycle Plan 2017

Project Status : Complete

This plan was developed following extensive consultation undertaken in February–March 2017.

The Bicycle Plan proposes cycling infrastructure grouped by dedicated Principal Shared Paths, strategic routes, local routes, training routes, and Safe Active Streets. The Bicycle Plan also proposes education and awareness programs to support the delivery of infrastructure and encourage the community to ride bicycles.

During 2020/21 the City will be working on the following projects from the Bicycle Plan:

  • Consultation on options for use of the Zig Zag Scenic Drive
  • High Wycombe Local Route project - Construction on the second stage of a local cycling route through High Wycombe. The second stage will take the path from Newburn Road along Butcher Road, Palmer Crescent and Mack Place through to Maida Vale Road.
  • Hale to Dawson Shared Path project - Design and consultation on an upgraded and expanded shared path that runs from Hale Road beside the Woodlupine Community Centre, along the west side of the Hawaiian's Forrestfield Shopping Centre, through Magnolia Way Reserve, along Hibiscus Drive and Bougainvillea Avenue to each Dawson Avenue. Construction is planned for 2021/22 and 2022/23.
  • Berkshire and Dundas Shared Path project - Design and consultation on a new shared path running along the south side of Berkshire Road west of Roe Highway, and along the east side of Dundas Road to the new train station. Construction is planned for 2021/22.
