About this Opportunity
The Coordinator provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the City’s natural areas, leading Fire Mitigation and Arboricultural Maintenance teams to manage and protect natural and urban forest assets. The role ensures coordinated, compliant, and risk-based delivery of environmental, bushfire, and tree management programs, balancing ecological values, community safety, and asset protection. It oversees workforce and contractor management, program delivery including grant-funded projects, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate the development, promotion and implementation of high-quality environmental management, bushfire mitigation and arboricultural services on behalf of the City.
- Coordinate the establishment of environmental programs, policy, and procedures in alignment with the City’s strategic direction.
- Coordinate resources effectively and efficiently to achieve the objectives of the team.
- Provide high quality customer service and expert advice to all stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
- Manage community, environmental groups and regional organisations to leverage the work of volunteers and partners to maximise delivery of on-the ground projects.

Selection Criteria
- Experience in a leading teams within local government or a similar organisation.
- Experience in coordinating teams and scheduling operational work programs. .
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, negotiation, conflict resolution and the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to effectively manage time and resources to meet deadlines under competing priorities and ensure delivery of a high-level service to the community.
- Highly developed written skills including the ability to undertake research, develop complex proposals, and write technical strategic documents and submissions, including policies and procedures.
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise good judgement and initiative when required.
Hours of Work
This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday to Friday, 75 hours per fortnight. However, flexibility to work part-time hours can be considered for the right candidate.
About the Benefits
This position offers a salary of Level 9 being $122,005.17 – $129,864.52 per annum, (depending on experience and skill level) plus superannuation.
