Attending the Interview

Bring along any supporting documents, if required.
Arrive 15 minutes early to read through the interview questions and prepare your responses.
The recruitment panel consists of at least two members. Interviews follow a set format to ensure equity and fairness to each applicant.
Interviews range from 30 minutes to 1 hour in duration depending on the role.

Further Assessment

After the interview, People Services may contact your referees to conduct a Reference Check
For some roles a medical and/or drug & alcohol screen maybe undertaken
For some senior or specialty roles further selection testing may be undertaken such as skills assessment tests, emotional intelligence tests and/or cognitive ability tests.
For some roles a police check and/or Working with Children Check will be required.
All successful candidates will need to provide 100 points of ID and proof of their working rights in Australia.

Outcome

The successful candidate will be verbally offered the position, on acceptance they are given a written Offer of Employment.
Once they accept, the other interviewed candidates will be advised by phone call and all other candidates will be advised by email.

Screed Operator

Position Type: Full-Time Permanent
Salary: $72,974 per annum + operations allowance + superannuation

We have an exciting opportunity for a Screed Operator to assist in the completion of road construction and maintenance as part of the City’s Works program.

About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Team Leader Asphalt Works you will be delivering efficient and timely road maintenance services, in a safe manner, within the City.

This position works within a small, motivated team. Some of the duties of this role include:

Operate and maintain an asphalt truck and a variety of items of other plant and machinery as directed to complete road maintenance and construction projects.
Perform a range of labouring tasks, such as repairing potholes, road edges, road patches, spray seal, bunds, wedges, etc.
Pick up asphalt and emulsion from various asphalt plants.

About You

To be successful for this role you will require:

Demonstrate experience in screeding asphalt in minor road construction and road maintenance works.
Demonstrated experience in physical labouring.
Experience in plant and vehicle operations and maintaining them in good order.
Experience in a wide range of power and hand tools i.e. plate compactor, concrete cutter, bitumen cutter, chain saw, jack hammer, etc.
Current WA Construction Induction Card (CIC) ‘White’ card
Current Heavy Rigid (HR class) heavy vehicle licence or Heavy Combination licence (HC class)

Hours of Work

This is permanent full-time position working Monday to Friday, 76 hours over a 9-day fortnight with a rostered day off.
