Attending the Interview

Bring along any supporting documents, if required.
Arrive 15 minutes early to read through the interview questions and prepare your responses.
The recruitment panel consists of at least two members. Interviews follow a set format to ensure equity and fairness to each applicant.
Interviews range from 30 minutes to 1 hour in duration depending on the role.

Further Assessment

After the interview, People Services may contact your referees to conduct a Reference Check
For some roles a medical and/or drug & alcohol screen maybe undertaken
For some senior or specialty roles further selection testing may be undertaken such as skills assessment tests, emotional intelligence tests and/or cognitive ability tests.
For some roles a police check and/or Working with Children Check will be required.
All successful candidates will need to provide 100 points of ID and proof of their working rights in Australia.

Outcome

The successful candidate will be verbally offered the position, on acceptance they are given a written Offer of Employment.
Once they accept, the other interviewed candidates will be advised by phone call and all other candidates will be advised by email.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria

Extensive experience in managing a human resource function for a large and complex organisation, including dealing with integrity/disciplinary matters, change management, industrial relations with multiple unions and work health and safety.
Knowledge and experience in the delivery of human resources as a strategic business partner (including workforce planning, reporting and human resource development).
Leadership ability to lead a team of dedicated HR practitioners and to effectively build partnerships with key stakeholders internal and external to the City.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time 5-year fixed term contract working Monday to Friday, 75 hours per fortnight. There may be a requirement to work outside of normal business hours to meet the obligations of attending Council and Community meetings.

About the Benefits

The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $170,000 per annum, (depending on skills and experience) plus superannuation. Other benefits include:

Community Engagement Officer

We have an opportunity for an experienced and innovative Community Engagement Officer to support the City in designing and delivering effective community engagement activities and initiatives. This position is a 12-month fixed term contract covering parental leave.

About this Opportunity

Working within the Customer & Public Relations team, this role will provide an advisory service to City staff with the engagement aspects of their projects, building wide understanding and practices in community engagement planning and assist with delivery of community engagement activities and initiatives.

About You

Some of the key qualifications and essential knowledge/skills for this position are:

Relevant tertiary qualifications and the completion of International Association of Public Participation (IAP - II) training modules or certificate and/or relevant work experience.
Ability to maintain and foster positive communication and engagement processes throughout the organisation
Ability to identify potential risks and challenges with engagement methodologies and recommend alternate approaches
Evaluate engagement and communication plans, analysing data collected during engagement activities and produce high quality reports
Effective consultation with internal stakeholders to determine business and project consultation needs to achieve best practice community engagement outcomes
Ensure consistently high standards of communication and customer service are delivered at all times
Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills
Strong copy writing skills
Highly developed skills in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated knowledge of community engagement principles and practices.
Experience in developing and delivering community engagement plans, activities, projects and initiatives as required including face to face, facilitation, written surveys, mail outs and online tools.
Highly developed stakeholder analysis skills.
Demonstrated experience in networking and developing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in development of communications materials, flyers, surveys, brochures and social media.
Contribute to effective strategic and operational planning by offering expert advice to staff to improve public participation and decision-making outcomes.

Screed Operator

We have an exciting opportunity for a Screed Operator to assist in the completion of road construction and maintenance as part of the City’s Works program.

About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Team Leader Asphalt Works you will be delivering efficient and timely road maintenance services, in a safe manner, within the City.

This position works within a small, motivated team. Some of the duties of this role include:

Operate and maintain an asphalt truck and a variety of items of other plant and machinery as directed to complete road maintenance and construction projects.
Perform a range of labouring tasks, such as repairing potholes, road edges, road patches, spray seal, bunds, wedges, etc.
Pick up asphalt and emulsion from various asphalt plants.

About You

To be successful for this role you will require:

Demonstrate experience in screeding asphalt in minor road construction and road maintenance works.
Demonstrated experience in physical labouring.
Experience in plant and vehicle operations and maintaining them in good order.
Experience in a wide range of power and hand tools i.e. plate compactor, concrete cutter, bitumen cutter, chain saw, jack hammer, etc.
Current WA Construction Induction Card (CIC) ‘White’ card
Current Heavy Rigid (HR class) heavy vehicle licence or Heavy Combination licence (HC class)

Hours of Work

This is permanent full-time position working Monday to Friday, 76 hours over a 9-day fortnight with a rostered day off.
