We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Operator to assist in the completion of drainage maintenance as part of the City’s Works program.
About this Opportunity
Reporting to the Crew Leader Drainage Maintenance, this role is responsible for safely and efficiently operate and maintain a variety of plant items, including a 5-tonne excavator and trucks to assist in the completion of Stormwater Drainage construction
and maintenance projects as part of the Councils Works Program, whilst providing a high level of customer service to Council’s internal and external clients to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Have great leadership skills and can act in Crew Leader role when the Crew Leader is away on leave.
This position works within a small, highly motivated team. Some of the duties of this role include:
- Operate and maintain an excavator and a variety of items of other plant and machinery as directed to complete stormwater drainage maintenance and construction projects.
- Experience and sound knowledge of working out and transferring level.
- Perform a range of labouring tasks, such as installation and maintenance of pipes, culverts, drains, installation and maintenance of signs, traffic control, etc
- Carry out other duties as directed within the scope of the employee’s skills and abilities and in accordance with the Councils Drainage Maintenance program.

About You
To be successful for this role you will require:
- Sound experience in operating excavators.
- Demonstrated experience in physical labouring.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in drainage construction and maintenance duties associated with Stormwater Drainage networks.
- Experience in plant and vehicle operations, such as trucks, multi and combo rollers and water cart trucks and maintaining them in good condition.
- Current unrestricted Heavy Rigid (HR or HR-B) or Heavy Combination (HC) licence.
- Current WA Construction Industry Card (CIC) White card.
- Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) and Traffic Controller (TC) tickets or the ability to obtain them.
- Quickcut Saw ticket or ability to obtain one.
Hours of Work
This is permanent full-time position working Monday to Friday, 76 hours over a 9-day fortnight with a rostered day off.
