We have an exciting opportunity for a recent high school graduate familiar with the local youth community. This role will provide workplace experience and increased skills as you work with a highly successful and professional team delivering opportunities
and engagement for local youth.
As a valued member of our team, you’ll be involved in assisting the Youth & Community Development Officer in the development, promotion and implementation of programs and communications that engage with and support the local youth community,
as well as providing support to the Community Development team as required.
Responsibilities include:
• Under the mentorship of the Youth & Community Development Officer, assist in the delivery of the City of Kalamunda’s: Kalamunda Futures: Youth Plan 2023-2028.
• Assist in the promotion, implementation and evaluation of an annual calendar of existing youth-focused events and programs.
• Identify, research and develop new opportunities and initiatives for young people within the City of Kalamunda.
• Develop and maintain strong communication with young people, inter-departmental staff, schools, community organisations and groups, funding bodies and other stakeholders. This includes involvement in managing the City’s website, City
of Kalamunda Youth Facebook Page and Instagram account, creating flyers and content, and utilising mail registers for email promotion.
• Engage with local young people, ensuring they have an active voice in the City of Kalamunda through organising and participating in the Youth Action Kalamunda Leadership program and other advocacy opportunities.
• Using local knowledge and connections as a recent graduate, link the City of Kalamunda with current priorities and trends for young people in the area and offer insight to the team on the relevancy and effectiveness of current activities.

Selection Criteria
1. Ability to work as part of a team, with good written and verbal communication skills
2. An interest in community development and advocacy for young people in the City of Kalamunda
3. Confidence to engage and work with internal and external customers.
4. Demonstrated experience in organising projects, activities, or events.
5. An understanding of basic design to produce digital media and promotional materials.
6. Sound computer and keyboard skills including the use of the Microsoft 365 Apps (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Hours of Work
This is a part-time position working 30 hours per fortnight, for 12 months on a fixed term contract commencing in January 2025.
