The application must be submitted each year prior to 1 October as the Fire Hazard Reduction Notice requirements may be subject to change.
NOTE: A variation is not an exemption, and you must outline the alternative prevention measures you plan to undertake on your application.
If you consider for any reason that it is impractical to meet the requirements as per the Fire Hazard Reduction Notice you may apply in writing to the City of Kalamunda no later than 1 October.
An administration fee of $150 applies to applications submitted and/or received after 1 October.

Once approved, variations are valid for the time of ownership of the property, if the property is sold (new owners) the variation becomes void. If the applicant fails to adhere to the specified conditions, the City may revoke the variation. Grazing is subject to specified conditions and all grasses will need to be slashed no later than December 1st each year

Grazing variations are valid for each year only and need to be reapplied annually, applications must be resubmitted to the City of Kalamunda by 1 October of each year.

The City may not automatically approve a variation based on a previous application.
If you have received notification that your variation has not been approved, you will be required to action all requirements specific to your property size as per the current Fire Hazard Reduction Notice.Some reasons your application may not have been approved:
If a Variation is not approved, you must comply with all relevant conditions of the current Fire Hazard Reduction Notice.
Submit your request to the City before 1 October for your Variation to be considered.
A City Community Bushfire Preparedness Officer will then be in contact once your appliance has been received to organise a suitable time to attend the property for an inspection of the area/s where a Variation has been requested.
