City Libraries to Trial Extended Opening Hours From 18 January

13 January 2021 10:00 AM

The City of Kalamunda libraries are trialling extended opening hours for each location at least one evening a week from Monday, 18 January.

High Wycombe Library kicks off the week staying open until 7pm on Mondays, with the Lesmurdie Library opening until 7pm on Tuesdays from 2 February 2021.

The Kalamunda Library will stay open until 7pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays and the Forrestfield Library will be open until 7pm on Thursdays.

Mayor Margaret Thomas said the trial means any resident currently finding it difficult to get to their local library before the 5pm close can now access their chosen location at least once a week.

“Our libraries are such an amazing community resource and this trial means more people can access reading material and resources as well as our computers and printers into the evening,” Cr Thomas said.

The City will review community uptake during the trial to assist with any decision regarding permanent changes to library opening hours in the future.
