Skip bin delivery times vary. Please refer to the Delivery Information below, especially if you are booking in help/contractors. Please ensure to read the list of 'what is accepted' and 'what is not accepted' in skips.
For skip bin bookings made between June 15 and 30 June each financial year, if there is a skip bin available for June delivery, the allocation comes out of the current financial year. If none are available for delivery in June, the allocation comes out of the next financial year. Any changes made to existing skip bookings after 15 June, even if the skip was booked before 15 June for July delivery, then the skip bin will then come out of the next FY allocations. It is recommended residents book skip bins throughout the year to ensure skip bins are available to enable you to utilise your allocations within the current financial year.

Weekday skip bins are delivered Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday and will remain on your property for two nights and one day. Weekend skip bins will be delivered Thursday or Friday and will remain on your property over the weekend and will be collected either Monday or Tuesday the following week.
Delivery of skip bins will be by 6pm on selected date. Collections of skip bins will be from 7am on collection date.
If you are organising help/contractors, it is recommended you request booking them for the day following the requested delivery date.
Due to logistical constraints some skip bins may be delivered to your property containing waste. Please be assured all skip bins delivered containing waste will be emptied on the same day as delivery and will not impact on your time to fill the skip bin (all residents will receive 24 hours from having an empty and usable skip bin).
No. All households are entitled to three skips bins per financial year unless they meet the criteria specified in the skip bin information section for additional green waste skip bins. If your household does not use any or all of the quoted allocation it cannot be carried over to the following financial year.
If you own more than one property within the City of Kalamunda, the skip bin allocation will remain allocated to each property. For example, if you have three properties, you cannot use 9 skip bins at one of the properties.
Skip bins are provided in lieu of verge collections due to safety issues as well as the wind in the hills blowing items around and sloping verges. If a resident doesn’t use a skip bin, just like many residents did not put out items on the verge on ‘verge collection day’, they are not entitled to a refund. It is simply a service we provide included in our overall waste service fees. The skip bin service provides a tidier method of bulk collection at a time that is more suitable to the resident.
If you have no suitable verge or location to place the bin, alternative drop off locations may be considered by the City or Cleanaway. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
In rare instances, due to geographical constraints it may not be possible to place a skip bin on your verge or property. As such, residents are entitled to a credit as highlighted in the fees and charges.
If you have modified your verge - rendering it unable to receive skip bins the reduction does not apply. The reduction in fees only applies to verges that have been deemed naturally unsuitable.
If deemed unsuitable to a receive a skip bin, the resident will be provided with a reduced fee. Residents cannot elect to remove the skip bin fee from their rates. This can also be seen as similar to if you do not use your general waste bin regularly as you have managed to create a low level of general waste at home.
If a resident chooses not to use their skip bins allocation, just like if they did not put items on the verge for ‘verge collection day’, they are not entitled to a refund as it is a service that is incorporated into the overall fee. This is also similar to the use of the Walliston Transfer Station, residents may choose not to use the service however it is incorporated into the Waste Service Fee so that the service can be maintained and provided to all. Also, if your household does not use any or all of the quoted allocation, it cannot be carried over to the following financial year.
If you own more than one property within the City of Kalamunda, you need to keep your bin allocation within each property - unless they meet the criteria specified in the skip bin information section for additional green waste skip bins.
In some instances the skip bin may arrive full, however it will be emptied by the end of the working day. A full skip bin will not affect the duration you have the bin for. The City recommends any hired contractors are booked for the following day.
Sand and soil is to be disposed of at Red Hill Waste Management Facility. Sand and soil is classed as general waste and does attract a disposal fee, however this is dependent on the size of the load.
Sand and soil cannot go in your general waste or FOGO bins.
Residents can dispose of clean bricks, tiles and building rubble at Walliston Transfer Station using their Entry Pass with proof of identification.
Other waste can be disposed of at Red Hill Waste Management Facility (fees apply for use of this facility)
City waste collection services have never included the disposal and removal of household hazardous waste. Refer to our disposal of hazardous waste section.
NOTE: Safe disposal of hazardous waste is essential, please follow guidelines.
When a property changes hands the new owner receives a new full year allocation of skip bins valid until 30 June. If a rented property has new tenants this does not apply.
The new resident needs to call Waste Services on 9257 9999 to advise that they want their allocation reset.

No bagged, organic or sanitary type products cannot be placed in the general waste skip bins.
