Skip Bins

The City provides on-request skip bins to residents for the collection of green waste and general household waste.

Households are entitled to any combination of up to three (3) skip bins per financial year (excludes commercial and industrial premises). Residents can select from either a general waste bin (blue) or green waste bin (green). The skip bins are 3m3 in size.

Please note that vacant blocks and uncompleted new builds and are not eligible for skip bins.

General waste from skip bins is diverted to a recovery facility that recovers at least 20% of material from the bins.

Green waste from skip bins is processed into compost.

Skip bin delivery times vary. Please refer to the Delivery Information below, especially if you are booking in help/contractors. Please ensure to read the list of 'what is accepted' and 'what is not accepted' in skips.

For skip bin bookings made between June 15 and 30 June each financial year, if there is a skip bin available for June delivery, the allocation comes out of the current financial year. If none are available for delivery in June, the allocation comes out of the next financial year.

Any changes made to existing skip bookings after 15 June, even if the skip was booked before 15 June for July delivery, then the skip bin will then come out of the next FY allocations.

It is recommended residents book skip bins throughout the year to ensure skip bins are available to enable you to utilise your allocations within the current financial year.

Delivery Tips

  • Ensure to view the list of ‘what is accepted’ and ‘what is not accepted’ to be put in skips on the City of Kalamunda website prior to delivery.
  • If you are organising help/contractors, it is recommended you book them for the day following the scheduled delivery date, thus allowing for delivery up to 6pm.
  • There is an increased demand for weekend skip bins. We recommend residents order well in advance to get your desired delivery date.
  • Skip bin allocations for each financial year are determined by the delivery date NOT the booking date.  For example: If you book in June for a July delivery, the skip bin will be from the new financial year's allocations.
  • Skip bin allocations cannot be carried over to the next financial year so we suggest utilising them throughout the year to ensure you use your allocations, as there is a high demand in the last few months of the year.
  • If the collection day falls on a Public Holiday, the skip bin will be collected on the next business day that the truck is in your area.

Any form of abuse or violence towards Cleanaway Services staff will not be tolerated and may result in your services being terminated.
