City of Kalamunda Celebrates WA Bike Month

29 September 2021 3:00 PM

The City of Kalamunda is encouraging residents to dust off their bikes, pump up their tyres, pop on a helmet and get riding this October for WA Bike Month.

Held annually from 1–31 October, Bike Month is an awesome celebration of all things bike riding.

CEO Rhonda Hardy said it doesn’t matter what the motivation is - leisure, transport or fitness – bike riding can be enjoyed by all ages and abilities.

“Thanks to the Department of Transport and Westcycle, we’re celebrating WA Bike Month with four amazing mountain bike rides this October,” Ms Hardy said.

The City’s free Riding Series kicks off with the Pickering Brook MTB Family Trail Ride on Saturday, 9 October from 10am to 1pm. Next up is the Kalamunda MTB Family Trail Ride on Sunday, 17 October from 1pm to 4pm. The third ride is a Family MTB Skills Ride at the Camel Farm on Saturday, 30 October from 1pm to 4pm. Wrapping up the series is the Kids ONLY Beginner MTB Session at the Camel Farm on Sunday, 31 October from 9am to 12pm.

Spaces are limited and bookings are essential via trybooking.com/BUMOA. Rides will take place in all weather and participants can choose to bring their own mountain bike or hire one when booking.

“Our City is well known as being extremely bike friendly with a number of new, shared cycle paths through our suburbs as well as the most amazing mountain bike trails that attract thousands to the area each month,” Ms Hardy said.

“Challenge yourself this October to get on your bike and enjoy a slow ride!”
