Environmentally sensitive areas (ESA’s) are declared by the Minister for Environment under the Environmental Protection Act 1986. Clearing exemptions do not apply to Environmentally Sensitive Area’s under this Act nor in the associated Clearing of Native Vegetation Regulations 2004. ESA’s have been applied to protect environmental values at state or national levels and cover some City of Kalamunda lands and private property.
