Mayor Margaret Thomas joined The Hon Catherine King MP, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Federal Member for Bullwinkle Trish Cook, State Member for Forrestfield Hon. Stephen Price, club representatives, project partners and community members to celebrate the completion of the facilities, which will support participation, inclusion and community sport for years to come.

The two projects have delivered modern changeroom facilities designed to meet the needs of growing sporting clubs and contemporary community expectations. The new buildings provide dedicated spaces for male and female participants, improved accessibility, and amenities that better support players, officials, volunteers and visitors.

Mayor Thomas said the facilities represented an important investment in the future of local sport.

“Community sport plays a vital role in bringing people together. It creates lifelong friendships, promotes healthy and active lifestyles, and strengthens the connections that make our community such a great place to live,” Mayor Thomas said.

“These upgrades will deliver lasting benefits for Forrestfield and the wider Kalamunda community by supporting local sport, improving access and encouraging people of all ages and abilities to get involved.”

Forrestfield United Football Club and the Kalamunda & Districts Rugby League Club have both experienced strong participation growth in recent years, particularly among women and girls, increasing the need for modern and inclusive facilities.

“By investing in better facilities for rugby league and soccer we are helping local clubs continue the important role they play in community life.”

The projects form part of the ongoing delivery of the Hartfield Park Master Plan, a long-term program of investment that is transforming one of the City's most significant sporting and recreation precincts.

The opening follows the recent completion of the Foothills Men's Shed and sits alongside a range of other upgrades being delivered across Hartfield Park to support community, recreation and sporting outcomes.

“Hartfield Park is at the heart of community life for thousands of residents,” Mayor Thomas said.

“Every project delivered here represents an investment in people, in community connection, and in opportunities for future generations. Sport brings people together, and Hartfield Park will now be better equipped to support participation, inclusion and wellbeing for years to come.”

The Forrestfield United Football Club and Kalamunda & Districts Rugby League Club changeroom projects have been made possible through funding from the Australian Government, The Western Australian Government and the City of Kalamunda.
