Youth and Community Assistant Position

This is a 12-month position that is offered to a new young person each year.

The City of Kalamunda has a dedicated Youth & Community Assistant (YCA) who works within the Community Development team to encourage, support and interact with young people within the local government area by creating and hosting a variety of activities and events with the Youth Team.

You will work primarily with the Youth Team under guidance from the Youth and Community Development Officer (YCDO), together forming the Youth Team. The YCDO will provide mentorship and assistance helping you make the most out of this experience.

This is a great opportunity to learn new skills, gain professional experience and interact with community and business stakeholders. It is a great position to build skills and prepare for the workforce, while actively making a difference in your community. 

Some of the YCA's main tasks will include:

• General office administration tasks including answering emails and phone calls, liaising with other staff, community and service providers
• Designing promotion and engagement materials using Canva 
• Coordinating and supporting the City's youth advisory and leadership committee Youth Action Kalamunda
• Project planning and facilitation of youth programs and events
• School engagement
