Planting a Verge Garden – Why? How?
10 May 2024 : 10:30 AM - 10 May 2024 : 11:30 AM
Find out what you can do to change your verge into a thriving and beautiful site.
Did you know that Perth has the lowest amount of tree canopy than any other Australian capital?
Planting a verge with low growing plants, either native or even vegetables, can help address the Urban Heat Island effect caused by loss of tree canopy and installation of hard stand roads, concrete and paving.
Find out what you can do to change your verge into a thriving and beautiful site that helps cool down your street and attracts a bounty of diverse life.
This workshop's topics will include the benefits of verge planting with native species, how to get started, council regulations and council assistance to plant verges through the Plants to Residents program.
This workshop is presented by Robyn Brown (Waste is my Resource) on behalf of Switch Your Thinking and the City of Kalamunda.
