Celebrate Your Club’s Unsung Hero

When it comes to sporting club legends, much of the glory is focussed on the field. In most cases, on-field glory would not be possible without the support of parents and volunteers working behind the scenes. The City of Kalamunda is calling on local clubs to nominate their unsung heroes as part of their Kalamunda Connected campaign.

Mayor John Giardina said, “Local sporting clubs bring communities together and instil a sense of belonging. It’s the countless hours and contributions made by volunteers that often keep these clubs going. We want to recognise these unsung heroes and thank them for all that they do not just for their club, but for making our community a better place.”

By shedding a light on the community spirit behind local sporting clubs, the City hopes to encourage more people to join in or contribute, which all links back to the Kalamunda Connected Plan. The Plan, which was approved by Council in 2018, sets out the City’s approach to create a more connected community.

“Connected communities are happier, healthier and safer. They provide opportunities for people to connect with each other and their region, to make a positive difference to the community through their endeavours. Belonging to a connected community makes us feel better and helps prevent loneliness, isolation and depression.”
