The City of Kalamunda is asking the community to put forward their vision for a vacant site on the corner of Pomeroy and Canning Road.

The site, located on the borders of Lesmurdie, Walliston and Carmel, is an old orchard, which was then utilised by the Water Corporation and is currently owned by the State Government.

Mayor John Giardina said, “The City of Kalamunda is committed to creating spaces that can be used and enjoyed by everyone in our community. We’ve identified this site as one location we can potentially transform, so that it meets the needs of every generation.

“The land is very close to a neighbouring regional park, which has a number of walk trails and like. However, there is no infrastructure of any kind on the site.”

”First, we need to know how our community would like it to be utilised. I am sure there will be lots of ideas. What enhancements would you like to see? How can this space better connect local families, young and old? It’s an exciting opportunity and we are looking forward to using our residents’ feedback to develop a way forward.”

The City held a community drop in session on site on 19 June 2019, with large numbers of community members attending and putting forward their views.

The City has established an online survey, where residents can submit their thoughts on if and how the reserve should be enhanced. The survey is available at engage.kalamunda.wa.gov.au or in hard copy at all City of Kalamunda locations.
