A World of Pure Imagination on display at Zig Zag Gallery in March
Renowned artist Fineart G. Lorenz wants to entice you into his surreal and symbolistic fantasy world. The exhibition 100% Semi SuR Real, a compelling retrospective of works from the past 17 years, is a showcase of outstanding Surrealistic painting.
Beginning his painting career as a teenager in Austria, Fineart has gone on to exhibit internationally, attend masterclasses in Vienna, and has developed a distinctive creative process over the years.
“I like to produce and create ‘series’ in which the original topic of an idea can be artistically explored in as many ways as possible until the series arrives at a natural end.”
“Another important point for me is dealing with polarities. I look at both ideas and recognise the complexity, connections, but also the humour.”
“It was 2009 and I started an erotic series called ‘Body from Art’. I worked on 33 pictures for 2.5 years and presented them for the first time in 2011”
Lorenz attributes his interest in Surrealism to a well-known source.
“The unique works of Salvador Dali. If you deal with surrealism – and its representatives – it was a fascination for me to dive into this dream world.”
Mayor Margaret Thomas said the exhibition is a must see.
“Fineart’s works are so unique, dream-like and colourful, and are an excellent example of the artistic talent that exists in our WA community.”
“I encourage everyone to get down to the Zig Zag Gallery during March to have a look”.
The opening of this dynamic and compelling exhibition is on Friday 4 March from 6:30pm, with the exhibition viewable until March 27 during gallery opening hours.
