This comes after a prosecution for unauthorized works on a property in High Wycombe.
On 17 April 2023, the accused faced Midland Magistrate Court for sentencing, and after hearing the facts of the case, the Court deemed the risks associated with the unauthorized works to be severe.
It was mentioned that the accused had completed the rectification works in a timely manner and generally complied with the City’s requests, however, the breach still resulted in significant penalties.
The Court imposed a penalty of $35,000 and ordered the accused to pay the City $1,838.30, resulting in a total penalty of $36,838.30.
The Court and the City are reminding residents to contact the City before undertaking works on respective properties in order to avoid such penalties in the future.
