Expressions of Interest Wanted for Public Art Project at Scott Reserve Pavilion, High Wycombe
The City is inviting responses from emerging, mid-career, or established artists to participate in our Expression of Interest (EOI) to design a 2D artwork which will be installed on the exterior concrete of the spectator areas of the Scott Reserve Pavilion, located in High Wycombe WA.
The City will be responsible for the production and installation with the artist being closely involved in the confirmation of finishes, layout, and the supplier used for this component.
As part of the City's commitment to public art, all major infrastructure projects commit a minimum of 1% of each project’s overall spend toward public art.
Public art has the incredible power to transform our built environment, creating more meaningful and engaging public spaces. Contributing to the aesthetic aspects of a place, elevating the experience of the built environment for all who encounter it. Public art fosters an appreciation of cultural heritage, allowing residents to feel a sense of belonging and self-possession towards the aesthetics and history of our built environment.
The Scott Reserve Pavilion project in High Wycombe represents a significant component of the Scott Reserve Master Plan. Developed through extensive community consultation, the master plan serves as a guiding framework for sustainable enhancements in sport and recreation at Scott Reserve. The pavilion, designed in collaboration with key user groups such as the High Wycombe Cricket Club and Football Clubs, incorporates essential features including six change rooms, a function room, kitchen, toilets, storage, meeting rooms, and a spectator area.
The Artwork will be an engaging feature of a highly utilised community facility and will connect with community members who do not usually seek out public artworks. The artwork should represent the curator’s theme of –
- Inclusivity and diversity in sports (All abilities sports, women in sports)
- Community
- Sporting Excellence
- AFL + Cricket (Key sporting groups)
