Funding Boost for Community Projects to Protect Swan and Canning Rivers
The City of Kalamunda welcomes the State Government’s ongoing commitment to the health of the Swan Canning Riverpark, with $27,380 allocated to local Friends groups through the Community Rivercare Program. This funding will enable crucial restoration projects to protect and enhance these iconic waterways.
The Friends of Kadina Brook will receive $14,580 to undertake foreshore revegetation and weed control, while the Friends of Jorgensen Park will receive $12,800 for bank stabilisation to repair and prevent foreshore erosion.
Mayor Margaret Thomas praised the partnership between the State Government, the City of Kalamunda, and local community groups, highlighting the importance of collaborative action in protecting the environment.
“Our rivers are vital to our community and natural environment, supporting local biodiversity and offering spaces for recreation and reflection. This funding ensures we can continue the vital work of restoring and preserving the Swan and Canning River systems for future generations.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated community groups, like the Friends of Kadina Brook and Friends of Jorgensen Park, whose passion and hard work make these outcomes possible. This funding is a testament to the power of community and what can be achieved when we work together.”
