Perth Hills prepares for emergencies

The Perth Hills Preparedness Project aims to build resiliency and prepare local communities for emergency situations. The City of Kalamunda is proud to be collaborating in this Red Cross initiative, in partnership with the Shire of Mundaring and the City of Swan. The Project will deliver a variety of resiliency building programs over the next two years, providing lots of opportunities for community members to engage and become involved.

Photographer uncovers new species in the City of Kalamunda

Five new species of jumping spider have just been uncovered in Kalamunda National Park and Korung National Park in the Perth Hills by photographer, Holly Martin. The discoveries, still to be scientifically verified, have been identified via her photographs by Australian Spider expert and author of "The Field Guide to Spiders of Australia" Robert Whyte.

Road users are asked to slow down and take care on the roads, especially where Emergency Services or road-side workers are operating. Drivers need to be especially vigilant during wet weather when visibility can be poor and when stopping distances need to be increased to allow for slippery roads.
