A new approach is required to meet the needs of current and future generations across the entire City of Kalamunda, which is why the City of has drafted a Big Picture Vision for Community Facilities.
This vision is driven by two aspirations:
The community have been asking for new facilities for the past decade, evidenced through the many strategic community engagement processes the City has undertaken. It’s now over to you to let us know what you think of the City’s Big Picture Vision.
The City sought feedback on the draft Plan and this stage of consultaton has now closed. You can stay up to date on future consultations and feedback by visiting the Big Picture page on the city's Engagement Portal

FOGO stands for Food Organics Garden Organics and refers to the collection of food scraps and natural material from your garden to create high quality compost through a three-bin system. FOGO is currently best practice for waste management and recycling and previous implementation shows it will double, at a minimum, the amount of waste diverted away from landfill (though this may be much larger depending of the area and bin system currently in place).
Get ready to FOGO in 2024!
The City of Kalamunda will push ahead with plans to implement for residents a Food Organic and Garden Organic (FOGO) kerbside collection and processing in 2024.
Our Waste Education and Community Engagement team will be popping up at Hawaiian's Forrestfield, to answer any questions you may have on waste and recycling and the incoming FOGO (Food Organics / Green Organics) system.
Please come along and meet the team:
