Activity Centres Strategy

The City of Kalamunda’s Activity Centres Strategy (the Strategy) will ensure that activity centres within the City are delivered to optimise community benefit by providing direction to guide the future development and enhancement of amenity.

At the Ordinary Council Meeting 28 April 2020 the Strategy was adopted for public advertising.

Agenda and Minutes can be viewed here

The City of Kalamunda will have a network of commercial activity centres that are characterised by their diversity, flexibility and unique character.

The Strategy establishes a hierarchy of activity centres (District, Neighbourhood, Local and Convenience) and places all of the City’s activity centres within one of those categories. Retail modelling was undertaken to predict the future retail demand and expansion of activity centres and determine whether future and potential activity centres would be viable. The Strategy forms a component of the City’s Local Planning Strategy. Due to be reviewed in 2020/2021.

The draft Strategy is open for comment until 26 June 2020 after which Council will consider submissions and the revised final Strategy document.
