The Mayor, Councillors, CEO and Staff at the City of Kalamunda would like to wish all the community a safe Easter and thank you for your calm resolve over the last few weeks as we worked through what the Coronavirus pandemic meant for our community.

Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of Council will be held in the Council Chambers, Administration Centre, 2 Railway Road, Kalamunda, on: Tuesday 7 April 2020 commencing at 6.30 pm.

The City of Kalamunda's website will not be available from approximately 8.00am to 8.45am on Thursday, 2 April 2020 whilst our website undergoes some scheduled system maintenance.

Please note the City of Kalamunda has closed all Playgrounds and Skateparks in accordance with the direction of the National Cabinet effective immediately.

City of Kalamunda Councillors and staff have been working tirelessly to understand and prepare for the local financial and social impacts as the COVID-19 crisis unfolds.

The City of Kalamunda has closed its public facilities due to COVID-19 from 12pm, Monday 23rd March, citing the need to all act now and help flatten the curve in the wake of the pandemic. Mayor Margaret Thomas today announced the closure of all City recreation centres, libraries, cultural centres, including the Zig Zag Cultural Centre and History Village, Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre and the Kalamunda Water Park.

The closure of the City’s facilities is due to yesterday’s Federal announcement and the new WA Government stage one restrictions on social gatherings. This means the City of Kalamunda will be closing a number of facilities to the public from Monday, 23 March 2020 12noon until further notice.

Western Power have scheduled a power outage which may affect our facilities located along Railway Road in Kalamunda on Wednesday, 5 February 2020.

The impact on road users remains limited and is being minimised by the contractor (Georgiou Group) as far as possible. In the coming weeks, the community may notice some new activities close to residential areas. These include the continuing essential service relocation(s).

The City of Kalamunda wishes to consult with the community to seek feedback on the level of community support in holding funerals in public places; parks, reserves and open spaces. At this stage we are undertaking preliminary community engagement in order to develop a draft policy for council consideration. We are seeking feedback on the broad level of support the public feels towards this undertaking.

Reroofing of the Kalamunda Library will start in early February 2020 with a staged roll out to minimise any inconveniences to library users.

Our Hartfield Park Recreation Centre sports court floors are being resurfaced. During this upgrade, the centre will be closed to the public from noon on Friday, 31 January to Saturday, 1 February 2020 inclusive.

*** UPDATE: 17th January 2020 9AM - this issue has been resolved. *** Please be advised that the City is currently experiencing intermittent disruptions with phone lines due to a prior power outage. We are working with the relevant service providers to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

The gym is getting NEW equipment! To facilitate this upgrade and installation of the new strength equipment the gym section of the centre will be closed to the public from 7.30am - 3.30pm on Friday, 17 January 2020.

The City of Kalamunda Annual General Meeting of Electors to receive and accept the 2018/2019 Annual Report will be held at the Administration, 2 Railway Road in Kalamunda on Tuesday 4 February 2020 at 6:30pm.

Council at its Ordinary Council Meeting (OCM) held 26 November 2019 resolved to adopt the Local Planning Policy 26 – Public Art Contributions.
