"Plant the seed and watch your idea grow"
The City of Kalamunda are excited to launch this new program in 2021, in partnership with the Kalamunda Chamber of Commerce and Hawaiian’s Forrestfield.
Submissions Open: 1 May 2021 @ 9am
The SEED Young Entrepreneurs program will guide you through the process of what it takes to start a business, through skill-building workshops, networking with successful young entrepreneurs, business mentors and creating your own business plan. This FREE program will offer you vital knowledge, guidance, and support in helping you develop your seed idea into a flourishing business.
Each element of the program flows into the next, from the launches, to workshops, all building up to the final business plan presentation to go in the running to win a share in $3000 worth of seed funding prizes. While we recommend attending each of the events to get the most out the program, you are welcome to attend a single event if that topic is your sole interest. No matter how many or few you attend, everyone is welcome to submit a business plan for judging. After a review of submitted digital business plans, finalists will be invited to pitch their concept to a panel of judges who will award prizes which are outlined in the next section. You are only eligible for your business idea to be considered for prizes if you submit a plan.
After review of their business plans, the finalists will be invited to showcase their business and products at a stall space as part of the SEED Young Entrepreneurs Youth Hub at the Kalamunda Chamber of Commerce Night Markets in October 2021! This will be a few months after finalists are awarded to ensure you have time to develop or make your product.
The prizes will be awarded as follows:
Winners
In addition, winners receive
Finalists
Winners and selected finalists will be awarded a stall space within the SEED "Youth Hub" at the Kalamunda Chamber of Commerce Night Markets in October, to promote and sell your products.
Participants still retain publishing rights to their works and ideas.
Throughout the program, Split Screen Productions will be following our journey through the program to create a documentary about the SEED Program and its participants. This will be showcased across the community at the conclusion of the project. Our registration forms will require you to sign photo consent to be included in the documentary – or you can select not to be filmed if you don’t wish to feature.
Listen to presentations from successful, local young entrepreneurs about their journey towards creating and running their own business! Plus, hear about the program in more detail and enjoy some food while mingling with business mentors from our local business community where you can ask for advice or tips about starting out. It will also be a good way to meet some of the other program participants.
These workshops will be run by the Small Business Development Corporation.
Due to restricted capacity of the venue, the attendees must be aged between 15-25 and participants cannot bring a companion to the session. There will be staff on site during the workshop that possess Working with Children Checks
Registrations are essential to attend workshops and launch events. Book via https://www.trybooking.com/BPAGT
If you are a successful finalist, you will be invited to present a pitch to a panel of judges (think Shark Tank!) that will be 5 minutes. You are welcome to bring along a digital presentation and/or your product to demonstrate during your pitch. Your timeslot during the day will be emailed to you prior to the session.
